Angela Merici Italian Religious Educator is born.

Angela Merici, or Angela de Merici, was an Italian religious educator, who is honoured as a saint by the Catholic Church. Angela Merici founded the first teaching congregation of women in the Church. She is the patron saint of the sick, disabled and physically challenged people and those grieving the loss of parents.
