Anna Ancher Danish painter, the only female member of the Skagen Painters, was born.
Anna Ancher was a Danish artist associated with the Skagen Painters, an artists’ colony on the northern point of Jutland, Denmark. The Skagen artists wanted to paint “the truth”, which generally meant “the ugly” or “the primitive”.
She is considered to be one of Denmark’s greatest visual artists.
