Sila María Calderón the first female governor of  Puerto Rico is born.

Sila María Calderón  is a Puerto Rican politician, businesswoman, and philanthropist who served as the eighth Governor of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico from 2001 to 2005. She is the first and, to date, only woman elected to that office.
